Most of us usually talk about the technique of brushing when it comes to oral hygiene. However, you also need to have good toothbrush along with the technique. A good toothbrush is always thought to be the one which can scrape away the plaque and tartar. While this is surely the major requirement, a good quality toothbrush is always non-invasive for teeth and gums. Make sure the toothbrush you are using has round and soft bristles. A toothbrush with crisscross-styled bristles is also going to help you clean your teeth and gums quite effectively.

Flossing
Oral hygiene is not just about cleaning the exposed surfaces in the mouth that are easily accessible by toothbrush. You also need to clean some hidden areas, e.g. the interdental spaces. These spaces usually become home to food particles and loads of bacteria which tend to infect gums and develop cavities. Therefore, you need to floss your teeth on daily basis. Ideally, you can floss your teeth twice in every day. However, doing it for at least once every day is quite essential. Flossing helps you in getting rid of the food particles and debris trapped in the hidden areas of interdental spaces.

Diet
Apart from brushing and flossing, you also have to make sure that you have good diet. Good diet mainly consists of the items which are good not only for your overall health but also for your oral health. For instance, we all know how good apple can be for health. It has amazing characteristics which make it a natural toothbrush. It has a mesh of fiber that carries out a brushing action on the teeth and in the interdental spaces. It also helps in stimulating gums.

Having that said, you also need to avoid foods which can be harmful for oral health. For instance, consumption of sugar can lead to prevalence of bacteria in the mouth. These bacteria can lead to production of acids which can weaken teeth and gums. Furthermore, use of alcoholic drinks should be reduced to the minimum level.
